Egyptian Championship goes to the wire
African giants Al Ahly and Ismaili are level on points going into the final round of games in the Egyptian Championship and if both sides win their respective matches a play-off between the two will decide the champions. Al Ahly are the most successful side in African football history and their outgoing coach Manuel Jose will hope to claim a 19th trophy before stepping down to manage Angola. Domestic Egyptian football is generally the strongest and best organised in Africa. This dominance is reflected in the number of Champions League titles collected by the likes of Al Ahly and Zamalek and also in the ability of the clubs to hold onto their best players.
